Mimaki Unveils Prototype of UJF-706 UV Printer
With Optional Roll To Roll Unit And GMG Colorserver Ipex 2010
Av Ratanaporn B. Jakobsen
introduce a new prototype version of its popular UJF-706 UV wide format printer at Ipex 2010.
The new UJF-706, which is available for demonstrations on stand C120/Hall 12, has been further enhanced with the inclusion of a GMG ColorServer for optimum colour matching and consistent print quality and a new, unique roll-to-roll unit option for printing flexible media. This now makes the prototype machine ideal as a proofing tool for packaging, flexo and gravure printers looking for a robust and flexible proofing solution, or for packaging and concept design agencies looking to provide proofs for clients on a range of original materials.
Says Mr Takeuchi, General Manager, IP Business Unit, Mimaki Engineering Co. Ltd.: "With the introduction of a new roll-to-roll unit option this machine offers maximum flexibility as it can now print on both roll-to-roll and rigid media simply by changing plates. Incorporating a GMG ColorServer also ensures absolute colour consistency across all media types which is critical if it is to stand up as a credible proofing solution for the packaging market."
The new UJF-706 UV printer proofer prototype has a maximum printing width of 700mm and can print on substrates from 0.025mm to 150mm thick. The machine can accommodate an extensive range of substrates commonly used for packaging production printing including shrink film, OPP, PET, board, Metal, cardboard and more. It prints CMYK LC and LM plus white and clear inks and offers a maximum printing resolution of 1200x1200 dpi. A vacuum suction device ensures precise registration for all media types.
Continues Mr Takeuchi: "The feedback so far at Ipex has been very positive. All printing and packaging companies are looking for flexible machines that enable them to offer as many services to customers as possible from a single machine to ensure maximum return on investment."
"With the new roll-to-roll option, the UJF-706 serves as both a very capable proofing device as well as a 'traditional' wide format printer. We hope to make an announcement on when it will be available later this year."
