Screen Launches Two Versions
of Truepress Jet520 Inkjet Printing System

At IPEX Screen, the print on demand and imaging specialist, launches two new versions of the Truepress Jet520. A monochrome version - the Truepress Jet520EX - is targeted at the on-demand direct mail and book printing markets, while the new Truepress Jet520 CP package combines high-resolution 720 x 720 dpi imaging with an entry-level price tag that will attract users with lower print volumes into the colour digital market.  

Alongside the launch of the exciting new Truepress JetSX, the first full-colour B2 duplex sheet-fed inkjet press, the new Truepress Jet520 models continue Screen's strategy of continually expanding the range of applications for the Truepress's multi-tone piezo drop-on-demand inkjet technology.

The Truepress Jet520EX Monochrome reinforces the Truepress Jet520's claim to be the de facto standard for short-run and on-demand book production by extending its reach into the high-quality black-and-white sector. With a print speed of up to 128 m/min and a resolution of 720 x 360 dpi, the Truepress Jet520EX can reproduce quality half-tones as well as text. It solves a persistent problem for digital book printers of how to bring the on-demand benefits of digital to illustrated black-and-white books.

The colour Truepress Jet520 CP package also opens new applications for high-speed inkjet. Its resolution of 720 x 720 dpi, the highest of any continuous-feed inkjet digital system, reproduces rich, high-quality images and crisp, sharp text, suiting the press to a full range of commercial print as well as other typical digital print applications. In addition, the Truepress Jet520 CP package is priced to appeal to print providers who may have previously considered their monthly volumes too low to justify a commercial-quality digital solution. Screen believes the Truepress Jet520 CP package is a viable option for any business printing more than one million impressions per month.

At IPEX, the Truepress Jet520 CP package has demonstrated printing on new grades of gloss coated paper that have been specifically developed for use with the Truepress Jet520 press.

The Truepress Jet520 range of engines includes both single engine duplex (SED) and dual engine duplex (DED) options. The SED configuration prints at 420 colour impressions per minute (64 m/min). This model can be economic from as few as 1 million impressions per month, yet can also produce over 5 million as demand grows. As volumes increase, it is simple to add a second printing unit to form a DED press capable of printing duplex at up to 1680 impressions per minute (128 m/min). The engines combine multi-grey-level technology with Screen's unique colour handling expertise for the highest-quality reproduction of photographs, illustrations and text.
